Last Wednesday, 20 police officers and two crown counsel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, attended a one day workshop at the NEMA Headquarters.

The workshop, Criminal advocacy for prosecutors and other advocates, was facilitated by Colin Bobb-Semple, a native of Guyana who resides in England. Semper has taught many Caribbean law students in London, preparing them for the bar exams there. He holds a master of laws degree and a master of arts degree in criminal justice, and is therefore eminently qualified to present the topic.

In officially welcoming Semper and participants of the workshop, Permanent Secretary Astona Browne said, "If the criminal justice system is to work, we must ensure that those who are responsible for it are adequately trained and prepared for the task." She welcomed Semper on behalf of the Ministry of National Security and the government of the Federation and reiterated her ministry’s commitment
