A PERSONAL NOTE
Those of you, who actually read the communications which I have been sending out on behalf of the two organizations and who also are sharp-sighted, will have noted the glaring absence of my name among those elected to serve in the coming year. This is not an error.
I have been an active member of the Alumni Association for about two decades and of the Society since its inception in 2010/2011. I have decided that it is now time for me to step back, take a break, and allow others to make their marks in driving these organizations to higher and higher levels of success.
There are some things on my “bucket” list which have been left undone since my “retirement”, and it is “now or never” for me to work to cross them off. This may seem to some to be a selfish attitude but, to be truthful, I feel “burnt out” and unable to contribute any more to these organizations in a meaningful and useful way. I need to refresh myself by doing something completely different and, in any case, my tentative plans will result in me being much too busy to be able to dedicate the time I would have wanted to give to these organizations.
My last visible support will be in selling tickets to the annual Fall Dinner/Dance on Saturday, 17 October, from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the West Rouge Community Centre, 270 Rouge Hills Drive, Toronto. The subscription of $40 per person includes dinner and all drinks. This event is only 2 weeks away, so please contact me (or your regular source) for tickets as soon as possible.
Shortly, the new Executives will decide who will be communicating to you electronically for notices, newsletters, etc. In the meantime, for those of you who normally contact me in matters relating to these organizations, please contact Rupert De Castro at 416-817-7604 or at adecastro@trebnet.com after this Fall dance until further notice.
Before signing off, it would be remiss of me not to offer my sincerest thanks to those of you who have demonstrated your support of these organizations in their attempts to improve the level of education of the children at the College in Guyana. Please continue in the future to give your fullest support to the new Executives and the organizations.
I will you and your families all the best for the future.
